Just 30 minutes of cardiac exercise, 3 times a week, can help seniors improve pulse rate, circulation, and metabolism to help prevent heart disease.

The Benefits of Cardiac Exercise for Seniors
The heart is a vital organ for everyone — made up of a group of muscles that function to pump blood throughout the body. Having a healthy heart is something every senior, and really everyone, hopes for. One way to help maintain heart health is by regularly and consistently doing cardiac exercise. For seniors, the benefits of cardiac exercise include helping avoid coronary heart disease, stroke, and other serious conditions, while also supporting more productive daily activity.
Everyone needs to look after their heart health, especially once they reach their senior years. A decline in ability and health in old age is something everyone commonly experiences. That doesn't mean, however, that it can't be delayed or slowed down. There are several things active seniors can do, and cardiac exercise is one of them.
Cardiac exercise movements are specifically designed to help maintain heart health so the body can meet its oxygen needs optimally. Once the movements are learned, this type of exercise can be done independently at home, ideally 3 times a week for 30 minutes at a time, to get the most benefit from it.
Here are some of the benefits of cardiac exercise.
Improving Pulse Rate
The first benefit of cardiac exercise for seniors is improving pulse rate. Pulse rate is an important indicator of heart health. Cardiac exercise aims to improve this pulse rate so that heart health is better maintained.
Improving Blood Circulation
As seniors' physical ability declines, improving blood circulation becomes especially important for heart health, as it can help prevent heart disease, stroke, and other conditions. Better blood flow can also help manage blockages in blood vessels caused by fat and cholesterol buildup, alongside maintaining a healthy diet.
Improving Body Metabolism
With a fitter body condition, metabolism also improves. For those looking to prevent heart attacks early on, this type of exercise is best done regularly and consistently. That said, it's still important to consider each senior's individual physical condition, which naturally varies, and adjust intensity accordingly.

The main benefits include improving pulse rate, improving blood circulation, and boosting metabolism, which helps prevent coronary heart disease and stroke.
Ideally, it should be done 3 times a week for 30 minutes each session to get the most benefit from it.
Yes. Once the movements are learned, cardiac exercise can be done independently at home without special equipment.
Because as physical ability declines with age, good blood circulation helps prevent heart disease and stroke, and helps manage blockages in blood vessels caused by fat and cholesterol.
No. Every senior's physical condition is different, so exercise intensity should be adjusted to each individual's ability.
